The author analyzes the publications that study the relationship between the changes in the paradigms of the development of European civilization and the need to update the methodological foundations in the contemporary scientific discourse of art criticism and cultural studies. The author outlines the reasons for the impossibility of describing the latest processes in culture and arts with the tools of postmodern and synergetic discourse. This newest determination requires the comprehension and reclassification: i.e. in order to accept innovative "superprinciples" of development of culture and the arts, one should undergo a procedure of a new typology of cultural processes, cultural and artistic forms, identify up-to-date hierarchies in the systems; this reclassification will lead to a radical refreshment of the categorical apparatus of Culture Studies and Art Criticism, inasmuch as the conversion of a natural object into an art (culture) object prefaces with other principles of impact on the medium in the modern situation; the means to "feel" culture or the arts not outside, but in the system of culture or the arts (their forms) convert the viewer-author into the protagonist owing to spatial illusions or tactile effects of virtual reality.
